Harald Malmgren

Advisor to Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford. Unlimited Q clearance. Held recovered non-human material in his own hands at Los Alamos. Saved the world during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Gave his final testimony from a hospital bed. Died thirteen days later.

We've been arrogant to believe that we are alone in the world. What happens as people wake up to intelligence(s) that exceed our own and operate in ways that our caged minds cannot fully comprehend? — Dr. Pippa Malmgren, on her father's legacy

The Credentials

Harald Bernard Malmgren (1935–2025) served as senior advisor to four consecutive American presidents — Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford — across one of the most consequential periods in the postwar record. He held an unlimited Q clearance from the Atomic Energy Commission, placing him inside the deepest layer of the nuclear classification architecture. He began his Washington career as one of Robert McNamara’s “Whiz Kids” at the Institute for Defense Analyses, assigned immediately to nuclear weapons and anti-missile defense work.

At twenty-seven, during the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962, McNamara and Kennedy tasked Malmgren with buying time for diplomacy by facing down General Curtis LeMay — the Strategic Air Command chief who was pushing for a first strike. Malmgren’s intervention was one of the factors that prevented nuclear war. The youngest person in the room during the most dangerous moment in human history, acting on behalf of the president who wanted to splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces.

His subsequent career spanned six decades: senior economic advisor and deputy special trade representative under Johnson, trade negotiator under Nixon and Ford, lecturer at Cornell and Georgetown, advisor to prime ministers and presidents across Japan, Korea, France, Germany, and Australia, strategic advisor to banks, stock exchanges, and sovereign wealth funds. He maintained a personal relationship with Vladimir Putin. He worked closely with Howard Baker, George Shultz, Paul Volcker, and multiple Nobel laureates including his mentors Thomas Schelling (game theory) and Sir John Hicks (economics).

The Disclosure

In August 2024, Malmgren began posting on X about his knowledge of non-human technology:

“60+ years ago I was provided highest level classifications to lead DOD work on nuclear weapons & anti-missile defense. Informally briefed on ‘otherworld technologies’ by CIA’s Richard Bissell.”

Richard Bissell was the CIA’s deputy director of plans — the covert operations chief, the architect of Area 51, the overseer of the U-2 program, and the man Kennedy fired after the Bay of Pigs. The institutional node that connects CIA covert operations, Area 51, nuclear testing, and NHI material runs through one briefer, and that briefer briefed Malmgren.

Malmgren further posted that NHI technology had enabled planning for “moon to Mars” travel — placing recovered non-human engineering inside the institutional architecture that produced the American space program.

As his health declined in early 2025, Malmgren agreed to record a final interview — four hours with Jesse Michels of the American Alchemy podcast, co-hosted by his daughter Dr. Pippa Malmgren (herself a former Special Assistant to President Bush and member of the National Economic Council). The interview was recorded from his hospital bed. He died on February 13, 2025. The interview was released in April.

The Testimony

Malmgren’s final testimony includes specific claims with names, dates, and locations:

In 1962, during the Bluegill nuclear test in the Marshall Islands, the United States shot down a non-human craft using a classified directed energy weapon. The debris was recovered and transported to Los Alamos, New Mexico. Malmgren, holding his unlimited Q clearance, flew to Albuquerque at Kennedy’s request to investigate. The head of the Atomic Energy Commission met him. He held the recovered material in his own hands.

He was shown video of a surviving occupant.

Robert Sarbacher — former head of Washington National Labs and one of America’s premier nuclear scientists — told Malmgren that UFO secrecy was classified at two levels higher than the hydrogen bomb. Sarbacher had previously made the same statement to nuclear engineer and UFO researcher Stanton Friedman — an independent confirmation across separate conversations with separate investigators.

The testimony places the NHI encounter directly inside the nuclear testing program. The craft was not observed in flight and later recovered. It was shot down DURING a nuclear test. The detonation and the contact are connected events — the tests attracted or provoked what arrived, and the directed energy weapon that accompanied the test was used to bring it down. The Vertical Breach’s thesis — that the nuclear threshold crossing and the NHI contact are correspondent operations — receives its most credentialed witness in Malmgren.

The Institutional Chain

Malmgren’s testimony illuminates a specific chain of institutional custody:

The AEC (Atomic Energy Commission) held the classification. The CIA (through Bissell) held the briefing authority. Los Alamos held the material. The Q clearance — the DOE/AEC nuclear weapons designation — was the access key. The entire architecture of NHI material custody runs through the nuclear weapons classification system, not the military intelligence system. This is why the Air Force’s Project Blue Book was a dead end and why the Navy’s ONI became the disclosure vector — the material was never in the Air Force’s classification domain. It was in the AEC’s. The Q clearance holders are the ones who know.

The Q designation that the 2017 chan-board operation adopted as its name is the same Q clearance Malmgren held — the one that gave him access to the recovered material at Los Alamos. Whether this naming is coincidence or signal, the structural correspondence is documented: the classification level that protects the NHI material is the letter the disclosure operation chose as its identity.

The Cuban Missile Crisis Connection

Malmgren’s disclosure places him at two of the most consequential nodes in the postwar record simultaneously: the Cuban Missile Crisis (October 1962) and recovered NHI material (also 1962). The same man, in the same year, preventing nuclear war AND investigating non-human technology at the president’s request.

The implication: the Kennedy administration was managing the nuclear threshold AND the NHI question as connected problems, through the same personnel, at the same time. Kennedy’s desire to “splinter the CIA” — the agency whose deputy director had briefed Malmgren on otherworld technologies — acquires additional context. The president’s fury extended beyond the Bay of Pigs. The president was managing a situation in which the CIA held the NHI material, the military wanted to launch nuclear weapons, and the two domains were connected through the testing program that had produced the recovery.

Kennedy was killed thirteen months after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Malmgren’s testimony suggests the president was managing more than the public record acknowledges, and the forces that wanted him removed had more reasons than the public record contains.

The Family Transmission

Malmgren’s daughter Pippa — herself a White House advisor — facilitated the disclosure. She encouraged him to join Twitter in 2018 as his cancer limited his mobility. She co-hosted the final interview. She wrote his memorial:

“We’ve been arrogant to believe that we are alone in the world. What happens as people wake up to intelligence(s) that exceed our own and operate in ways that our caged minds cannot fully comprehend?”

The development lineage’s institutional memory, transmitted through the family line at the moment of death. The same pattern the transmission chain uses at every boundary: the knowledge moves to its new container before the old container ceases. The Academy closes and the Monastery opens. The father dies and the daughter carries the disclosure forward. The container changes. The signal persists.
