Harald Malmgren

A documented economist and senior trade official said he entered the nuclear secrecy system in 1962, handled recovered non-human material, and carried the account until his final hospital-bed testimony.

The Credentials

Harald Bernard Malmgren (1935–2025) was an economist, trade negotiator and Washington adviser whose documented career crossed the Institute for Defense Analyses, the Office of the United States Trade Representative and decades of international consulting. He earned his doctorate at Oxford, entered IDA in 1962, became a senior economic adviser at USTR in 1964, and later served as deputy special representative for trade negotiations with ambassadorial rank and briefly as acting trade representative.

His late testimony opened a second, hidden career. Malmgren said he held an unlimited Q clearance, worked inside nuclear-weapons and missile-defense problems, confronted General Curtis LeMay during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was sent into the recovered-material compartment at Kennedy’s request. Those claims open the hidden record; they are not settled entries on his public résumé. Surviving employment records confirm the Washington proximity while also placing hard pressure on the clearance and White House chronology.

The public carrier was substantial without embellishment: trade work across the Johnson, Nixon and Ford administrations, teaching at Cornell, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a long consulting career after government. This is what makes the final account consequential. It did not arrive from an anonymous channel. It arrived through a named official whose ordinary career is documented and whose extraordinary autobiography now has to be tested against the record.

The Disclosure

In August 2024, Malmgren began posting on X about his knowledge of non-human technology:

“60+ years ago I was provided highest level classifications to lead DOD work on nuclear weapons & anti-missile defense. Informally briefed on ‘otherworld technologies’ by CIA’s Richard Bissell.”

Richard Bissell had been the CIA’s deputy director of plans, a central figure in the U-2, Area 51 and Bay of Pigs histories. Malmgren said Bissell began meeting him after the missile crisis and told him directly that the otherworldly presence was real. One witness thereby joined covert aviation, nuclear testing and non-human technology through one named briefer.

Malmgren further posted that NHI technology had enabled planning for “moon to Mars” travel — placing recovered non-human engineering inside the institutional architecture that produced the American space program.

As his health declined in early 2025, Malmgren agreed to record a final interview — four hours with Jesse Michels of the American Alchemy podcast, co-hosted by his daughter Dr. Pippa Malmgren (herself a former Special Assistant to President Bush and member of the National Economic Council). The interview was recorded from his hospital bed. He died on February 13, 2025. The interview was released in April.

The Testimony

Malmgren’s final testimony includes specific claims with names, dates, and locations:

Malmgren said that during the 1962 Bluegill nuclear-test sequence in the Pacific, the United States brought down a non-human craft with a classified directed-energy weapon. He said the recovered material entered Atomic Energy Commission custody, that he traveled to New Mexico at Kennedy’s request, and that he held part of the object in his own hands.

He also said he was later shown video of a surviving occupant.

Malmgren said Robert Sarbacher told him UFO secrecy stood above the hydrogen bomb. Sarbacher had made a similar statement decades earlier to investigators, establishing that the classified account circulated through another named nuclear-world carrier. It does not independently establish Malmgren’s Bluegill object, weapon, material or occupant.

The testimony places the NHI encounter directly inside the nuclear testing program. In Malmgren’s account, the detonation, arrival, weapon and recovery are one event. The Vertical Breach’s nuclear-contact correspondence therefore receives a named witness from inside the 1962 Washington apparatus. Whether the surviving records can recover his route into the compartment is now the decisive question.

Inside the 1962 Compartment

Malmgren placed the non-human-material story inside the nuclear clearance system and inside Kennedy’s 1962 crisis circle. In his telling, the AEC held the object, Los Alamos supplied the encounter site, Bissell carried the briefing and Kennedy connected the witness to the material. The public and hidden careers meet at the same point: a young economist enters Washington through IDA while the nuclear state confronts both terrestrial annihilation and an intelligence outside its control.

The larger custody map remains in Evidence until its own records appear. One witness cannot establish that the whole archive belonged to the AEC, that the Air Force was only a decoy, that the Navy inherited the disclosure current, that a later operation selected the letter Q as a signal, or that the hidden program supplied a motive for Kennedy’s murder. The live claim is already extraordinary without borrowing certainty from those deductions: Malmgren said the nuclear threshold and the non-human encounter were managed by some of the same people in the same year.

The Family Transmission

Malmgren’s daughter Pippa — herself a White House advisor — facilitated the disclosure. She encouraged him to join Twitter in 2018 as his cancer limited his mobility. She co-hosted the final interview. She wrote his memorial:

“We’ve been arrogant to believe that we are alone in the world. What happens as people wake up to intelligence(s) that exceed our own and operate in ways that our caged minds cannot fully comprehend?”

The dying witness placed the account in his daughter’s custody before his own carrier failed. Whether every event is recovered later, the handoff itself is part of the record. The father dies and the daughter carries the disclosure forward. The container changes. The signal persists.

Question

Malmgren placed a recovered non-human object inside the Atomic Energy Commission's nuclear compartment and Kennedy's 1962 crisis world, then transferred that account through his daughter before his death.

Record

Contemporary records document his Oxford doctorate, 1962 Institute for Defense Analyses employment, later senior USTR service, Senate-confirmed ambassadorial rank and acting trade-representative role.

His August 19, 2024 post names Richard Bissell and an informal briefing on otherworldly technologies; the 2025 interview preserves the larger Bluegill, Los Alamos, material and occupant account in Malmgren's own voice.

Pippa Malmgren participated in the final recording and publicly carried the account after his death, making the family handoff itself part of the record.

Alternative explanations

Malmgren's Q clearance, Kennedy assignment, Bluegill recovery, material handling, occupant video and Cuban Missile Crisis intervention are his testimony, not independently established events.

Federal employment and background records reported by Douglas Dean Johnson conflict with major parts of Malmgren's late account, including the asserted AEC clearance and White House role.

Robert Sarbacher's older statements show a recurring classified UFO account but do not independently confirm Malmgren's Bluegill object or Los Alamos visit.

AEC custody, the Air Force and Navy contrast, the Q-name resonance and a Kennedy-assassination motive require separate command, classification and decision records.

Lineage

Malmgren's posts and interview form one witness stream; his daughter's participation, Sarbacher's statements, employment records and later investigation are separate streams and must not be counted as repeated confirmation of one event.

Open questions

Corroborate clearance, travel, personnel, test purpose, material custody and original interview timecodes independently before promoting the 1962 account from testimony to recovered event.

The corrected transcript of the interview's Bissell segment preserves timecodes from 00:00 through 13:25 and reproduces the August 19, 2024 post; the full Bluegill account belongs in a dedicated indexed transcript.
